HOW YOU PAY

Four ways to settle a booking.

Africa's payment landscape is fragmented — cards work in some places, Mobile Money in others, bank transfer in a third. We support all of them so wherever you are, the booking goes through.

📱

Mobile Money

Pay from your MoMo wallet directly. The way most of Africa actually pays.

MTN MoMo M-Pesa Orange Money Airtel Money Vodafone Cash
💳

Cards & wallets

All major international cards, plus regional networks. Apple Pay & Google Pay at checkout.

Visa Mastercard Amex Verve Apple Pay Google Pay
🏦

Instant bank transfer

Local instant-rail transfers where they exist — usually fee-free and settled in seconds.

PayShap 🇿🇦 NIBSS 🇳🇬 Pesalink 🇰🇪 GhIPSS 🇬🇭
🪙

Crypto (diaspora)

For diaspora bookings & digital nomads. Stablecoin in, local currency out to the operator.

USDC USDT BTC via BitPay / NOWPayments
WHO PAYS, HOW

Three traveler profiles. Three rails.

A US-style "just accept Visa" approach fails immediately in Kenya (M-Pesa dominant), Senegal (Orange Money), or Ghana (MTN MoMo). So we route by who's actually paying.

01

Inbound international tourist

Flying in from London, New York, Toronto, Berlin, Lagos via Heathrow. Pays in USD/EUR/GBP with a Visa, Mastercard or Amex — sometimes Apple Pay.

Their needs
  • · Transparent FX rate at checkout
  • · Familiar fraud-trust signals (3-D Secure)
  • · Free 24h cancellation
02

Pan-African traveler

Ghanaian visiting Kenya. Nigerian visiting South Africa. Pays via Mobile Money from their home country, often in local currency, settled cross-border for them.

Their needs
  • · Pay from MoMo wallet (no card needed)
  • · Cross-border MoMo interoperability
  • · FX inside the cedi/naira/shilling/rand block
03

Diaspora traveler

UK- or US-based African coming home — often for Detty December. Pays from a foreign card OR sends Mobile Money home for in-country bookings (a chop bar dinner, a Bolt to the airport).

Their needs
  • · US/UK card → Ghana MoMo settlement
  • · Book for family members on the ground
  • · Remittance-grade FX honesty
🇬🇭 GHANA PAYMENT STACK

Built around how Ghana already pays.

MTN MoMo dominates: 63M monthly active users across MTN's network handled over $320B in transactions in 2024. We integrate with it natively — and back it up with cards, Vodafone Cash, AirtelTigo, and instant bank transfer.

Primary rail

MTN MoMo

The dominant rail in Ghana. Pay direct from your wallet; we settle the operator in cedi same-day.

Cards

Visa · MC · Amex

Via Flutterwave, Paystack, and Hubtel — fully 3-D Secure, GHIPSS-acquired.

Backup gateways

Kora · DPO Group

Auto-failover within seconds if the primary rail times out — most travelers never see the swap.

PAN-AFRICAN COVERAGE

Twelve priority tourist markets.

As we expand beyond Ghana, each new country gets its own primary mobile money rail, a card rail, a backup gateway, and bank transfer support — built to the local payment habits, not flattened to a US default.

UNDER THE HOOD

A payment orchestration layer — not a single integration.

FAQ

Payment questions, answered.

When will I be charged?

We hold your booking for 48 hours without charging your card or MoMo. Once we confirm with the local operator, you'll get a secure payment link by email. Cards are charged at confirmation; MoMo prompts you to approve a pull from your wallet.

What's the FX rate I'll pay?

We display the exact rate at checkout — usually within 0.5% of the mid-market rate. No hidden bank spread. If you'd rather pay in cedi from a foreign card we'll show both options.

Can I pay from a US card and have a Ghanaian relative use the booking?

Yes — that's the diaspora flow we're built for. You pay from your US Visa/Mastercard; we settle the operator in cedi via MTN MoMo; your relative receives the confirmation and joins the tour.

Is Mobile Money secure for tourist-sized amounts?

Yes. MTN MoMo handles over $320 billion in transactions a year. Every pull requires a PIN from your phone — we never see or store it.

What happens if my card payment fails?

Our orchestration layer automatically retries via a different acquirer (Adyen → Flutterwave → DPO). In most cases the second attempt succeeds within seconds. You'll only see a failure message if every fallback rail also fails.

How are refunds handled?

Refunds go back to the original method — your card or your MoMo wallet — usually within 3–5 business days. Partial refunds are supported on every rail. Cancellation policies are per-tour and shown on the booking page.

I'm an operator — when do I get paid?

Within 24–48 hours of the traveler's tour completion, in your local currency, to your MoMo wallet or bank. Weekend bookings settle Monday. No wire fees, no surprise FX.

Built for Africa, by Africa.

Wherever you pay from, and however you pay, we route it cleanly. That's the moat — and the reason your booking actually goes through.
